Free Guitar Lessons

I’ve long dreamed of being able to give back to my community in some way using my music and finally this has come to fruition. I’m excited to say that I’ve partnered with an online guitar learning app called “TIL” that has provided me a platform to teach guitar completely free of charge for my students.

TIL is a free app available on the App Store / Google Play Story on which I run 2 beginner’s guitar classes. You can download TIL by searching “TIL Guitar” on the App Store or Google Play Store or by clicking the buttons below.

NatPicking Beginner’s Class #1
Every TUESDAY 6-7pm NZ time

NatPicking Beginner’s Class #2
Every SUNDAY 7-8pm NZ time

Both of the above classes cover the exact same content - just on two different time slots to cater to the huge number of interest we’ve received in the lead up to these classes commencing.

Course Content

These classes are aimed at complete beginners who have never played guitar before or are just getting started. In this course I will cover:

• Playing basic chords

• Reading Chord Charts

• Picking melodies / lead guitar

• Reading simple guitar tabs

• Simple Guitar Songs using chords covered in class

• Tuning Your Guitar

• Major Scales & Basic Music Theory

• Guitar Practice Exercises

How The Class Works

The guitar lessons are taught LIVE on the Til app meaning that I am teaching on the app in real time. Ideally students should have the app set up with their camera on so I can monitor how you are progressing with each exercise that I’m teaching. Students are encouraged to interact with me during the class - asking questions as the lessons progress.

Obviously, you will need your own guitar in order to follow along in the class. These are 100% LIVE lessons - just as they would be taught if they were in-person lessons.

Target Age Group: Whilst I try my best to cater for all ages, I do think students should be at least 8+ years old. This is because the lessons are an hour long which requires a lot of focus for children. Majority of the students so far have been adult students.

Download the Til app using the links below or by searching for “Til Guitar App” on the App Store or Google Play. Please note that if you simply search for “Til” it will not show. Once you have the app, set up your profile and scroll through to find my two guitar classes. Once you find these, click the “Notify Me” button to get push notifications about when the classes are about to start. Don’t forget to follow me on the app also. Once you’ve done that, you’re ready to start classes!

Next 10 Week Course:

The next intake begins:
-Tuesday 27th February 2024
OR
-Sunday March 3rd 2024

The Tuesday and the Sunday classes are identical and follow the same curriculum. There are just two time slots to allow people to choose a time that better suits their own schedules. Please note that you can attend either time slot, switch between the Sunday and the Tuesday class as you please. You can even attend both slots if you’re really enjoying the learning!
